Migratory waterfowl hunting at Blandfield is some of the finest on the Atlantic Flyway. Our varied habitats, sound management practices, and experienced guides provide hunters with a quality, memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Waterfowl Hunts

Our 4,000-acre prime habitat includes a 600-acre freshwater tidal marsh, farm fields, plant and flood impoundments, and numerous creeks and ponds, creating a unique property that attracts and holds many different species of migratory waterfowl. Our experienced and entertaining guides will put birds in your face with world-class calling.

  • Overnight Hunts:

    • Two hunts, one on afternoon of arrival, and again the following morning

    • Typically, 3 hunting parties (2 guests per guide, each with trained dog)

    • Afternoon Goose hunt when seasons coincide

    • First class dogs and guides

    • Bird cleaning and packaging

    • Full, exclusive use of the Blandfield Lodge, with stocked bar and endless hors d’oeuvres

    • Chef Gregory and his staff will provide endless appetizers and hors d’oeuvres following afternoon hunt and prior to dinner, a world-class seated dinner, light breakfast prior to morning hunt, brunch/lunch post-hunt and prior to departure

    • Arrive in the early afternoon and enjoy the picturesque view of this remarkable landscape on our 4,000 acre historic estate

    • Mingle with friends and meet the expert guides, who will then provide direction for afternoon hunting parties, strategy for the hunt and specified blinds

    • Embark on an afternoon waterfowl hunt

    • Retire to our spacious 5,000 sq. ft. hunting lodge on the banks of the Rappahannock River

    • Share stories over beverages and hors d’oeuves as you enjoy our patio with fire pit and watch the sunset across Blandfield’s marsh

    • Gather for a mouth-watering, seated dinner prepared by Chef Gregory and his staff, with your choice of culinary delights including wild game

    • End the night with a moonlight stroll along the lodge peninsula, or gather around the card table with friends

    • Retire for a restful evening in your private bedroom

    • The following morning, awake for a continental breakfast to fuel your next memorable hunt

    • Congregate back at the lodge for a hearty lunch prior to departure

    • Each guest is responsible for providing his/her own non-toxic shotgun shells for their hunt

    • Guests are also expected to provide their own gun, hunting license, required duck stamps, appropriate clothing, waders, and/or hip boots

    • Host and all guests should be experienced hunters and knowledgeable of gun and shooting safety

    • Any guest consuming alcoholic beverages prior to a hunt will not be allowed to handle a firearm.

    • For safety reasons, we request guests refrain from bringing their own dogs.
